Miaan’s Human rights division is dedicated to empowering marginalized groups, including ethnic minorities, women, children in Iran, Central Asia, and the, to address critical human rights issues. Our initiatives focus on improving access to water, preventing gender-based violence, and ensuring equal access to benefits and voting rights for minorities. We enhance capacity through workshops, seminars, and educational resources that equip civil society members to understand human rights challenges and work towards potential solutions. Additionally, we teach advocacy and campaigning skills to enable them to advocate effectively with local or national governments, international stakeholders, and the United Nations.
Miaan has built a robust network of organizations and individuals supporting marginalized communities. We regularly partner with specialist organizations such as Femena, Minority Rights Group International, and the Center for Support of Human Rights.
Environmental issues are among the most significant human rights challenges in Iran, affecting rights to life, health, culture, food, and freedom from discrimination.Ethnic minorities and other marginalized communities face this impact acutely. Protests in Iran have frequently been driven by environmental concerns, particularly access to water. Miaan raises awareness about environmental rights through online platforms and capacity-building initiatives. We work closely with prominent environmental activists to increase resources available to Iranian and MENA civil society, advocating for the right to a healthy environment.
